Projects
Creating maps suitable for land-use management. Currently, this is under progress and we have developed sub 30 m resolution maps of African soil types, which has not been done yet. However, many countries still depend on categorical data.
Creating numerical soil classes to prevent bias and increase map accuracy. We have developed a method to numerically classify soils for large regions in South Africa found here. We still need to test and apply it in additional regions. We will be using this method for the Mapping Africa project.
Using existing data to create low cost maps for large regions. This decreases the resources needed to produce maps at a fine resolution.
Creating mapping strategies for subsistance farming.
Land suitability
Developing algorithms to indicate locations where suitable crops can be grown.
